Motorola x40 Chinese > Global rom transition OEM lock

Hello,

After receiving my new Motorola x40 I realized that it had no google apps. So I decided to unlock my x40 bootloader via https://en-us.support.motorola.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your- device-a It all worked. I managed to install a global rom with all the google apps.

However, Global rom is really undeveloped in an interface department. A lot of features that were present in a Chinese rom were way better in my opinion.

So when I decided to go back to my old chinese rom, in "Developer Options" OEM unlocking says "Connect to the internet or contact your operator" and it is greyed out.

My phone has already been connected to wifi for around 24 hours on a Global rom And around a week before I transitioned from Chinese room over to global rom.

How long do I need to be connected to the internet or what operator do I need to contact to unlock my OEM again?

Hi, I don't fully understand what you mean.
In the Chinese version of the system, Google services can be turned on in the system settings. (Yes, this option is disabled by default.

If you have unlocked the oem, there may be some settings that cannot be completed well. If you are in China, I suggest you consult the offline after-sales point to see if they can't help you.

Unfortunately, I am not in China. On US forums I read that there is such thing as waiting for 7 days for the OEM to get unlocked automatically. However, I am not too sure if that is the case with Chinese phones with Global roms.

Here is the demo of the error I am dealing with: https://imgur.com/1UZiVJa

Anyone dealt with a similar error before?

You can try these two methods:
①Just restore factory settings.
or
②Open developer mode and connect to the internet to access a website such as Google and access your account ,it will be ok in a few minutes.(It seems like you've tried)

OEM unlocking does not require waiting for 7 days,it is a condition for bootloader unlocking and not automatically.
There is a similar situation happened in this club.Click on the link to view more detail"https://bbs.thinkpad.com/thread-7779479-1-1.html"

1) I tried regular factory reset, Revovery Factory Wipe/Cache reset, fastboot erase data/cache - didnt work
2)Didn't work
3) I had levnovo P2 before. And i had to wait 14 days for OEM to get unlocked. So it is a thing for sure with some devices. This one is Motorola x40. Which is owned by Lenovo now. So maybe they implemented something similar. My case is a bit different to the one on that link since I initially had chinese rom and then i switched to Global rom via fastboot.

Have you updated the latest rom for X40?

There is a same solution, for Moto edge s (G100), perhaps all subsequent models will follow this rule —— the latest version and restore the factory settings, from https://bbs.ixmoe.com/t/topic/25847

In fact,Lenovo is more like a regional agent and Lenovo Club is not very active, but there are more technical exchanges in the ixmoe community,so I think ixmoe will be helpful to you.
